Major Pennant Report Round 2

Posted on: 12 February

Week 2 saw us take on Camden once again, but this time with a Home Ground advantage. With a few team changes, we were confident of being able to return serve and get our season back on track.

There was plenty of great golf from the outset with Warrick Oates and Trent’s opposition making Birdie on our tough 1st Hole. The front 9 saw plenty of close battles, with most matches in the balance until we managed to nose our way in front after 10. Jake Hallinan once again displayed some incredible golf playing at #1. A Birdie on 3, a Hole Out Eagle on 8 from 80m, and another Birdie on 11 after lipping out for Eagle from 50m helped him bank a 4&3 Victory. Warrick was another big winner, getting ahead early in his match and shaking hands for a 5&4 win on the 14th Green. Our other matches were still in the balance, and with Mitchell Rugless and Mike Hurly being defeated our work was still cut out to secure the team win. Kurt Rugless gained momentum with back to back Birdies on 9 & 10, and a solid Par on 16 was enough to lock in a 3&2 win. With 3 matches in and 2 matches against, Dax and Trent Vella were still locked in tight battles. Dax playing at #4 took center stage, with a dramatic par on the last to halve the Hole and lock our 4th win of the day. Holding his nerve with a 5ft downhiller for Par in front of the growing gallery. As our final pairing on course, Trent Vella was AS going down the last playing at #2. With his opponent in trouble, a fairway and green in regulation was all that was needed to keep his undefeated record in tact.

Woolooware now sit T2 on the ladder, after Macquarie Links managed a Win at Home and Square Away. Our next match is next Sunday 18.02 at Home from 9:30am vs Killara GC.

We must thank all of the Caddies and Woolooware Members who came out to support. A Win at Home is much sweeter when we can do it in front of our peers and fellow members. Check out the gallery of photos via the link below.
