Our 2nd away trip for the year meant an early start for the boys this week. Killara presented itself immaculately, with fast rolling greens, tucked pins and thick wet rough from the morning dew.
Mike Hurly played #7 and got out of gates fast being 3up through 5. His opponent slowly clawed back and a close battle continued all day which ultimately resulted in a halved match. Chris and Trent played #6 & #5 and couldn’t overcome their opposition, going down 6&5 & 2&1 respectively. Unfortunately Kurt also lost 4&3, however Dax and the still undefeated Jake secured 2 wins to keep us in the hunt. We gathered around to watch Mitch Rugless at #3 go down the final few holes, with a Par on 16 getting him back to all square. With a match win needed to get us an overall team half, Mitch held his nerve in front of a big gallery hitting some great shots down the final stretch. We held our breath as his opponent left himself a curling 6ft putt for Par on 18, but it dripped in the left side resulting in a squared match and a 3-4 loss to WGC.
Congratulations to @killaragolfclub for proving too strong at home and presenting the golf course in great condition. We now sit 2nd on a tight table, needing at least a Win and a Draw In our final 2 matches vs Mac Links to be a chance at Finals…still certainly within our grasp!
